A 33-year-old Patwari reportedly died of cardiac arrest in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Tuesday.

Official sources said that panic gripped Aglar Pinjoora in Shopian, when some locals saw a man lying unconscious in an orchard on Tuesday. “The man, identified as Inam ul Haq Malik, was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” they said.

They said that initial reports suggest that Malik, who was working as a Patwari in the Irrigation Department, died due to a massive heart attack.

However, they said police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the cause of the death. “The body of the man has been sent for postmortem,” they said, adding after completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased will be handed over to his relatives for last rites.
